Timeline

In the ident above we see that BBC is taking different steps in creating there idents instead of representing the world through drawn circles they used an air balloon as a metaphor to represent the world and as the air balloon travels its a clever way to say that the world travels as well so this reminds people that we are in the cycle of life and moving forward so this ident appeals to everybody as everyones trying to move forward in there lives. This ident is specifically targeted to be the world as the air balloon is shaped to look like the world as it has the continents on the air balloon. this is why this is supposed to be referencing the world

The BBC was not the only broadcasting station to have made idents other channels came longhand produced there own idents this was because of the branding identity. this was very important for MTV as well as there channel mainly showed off music videos so this was one of the first idents that were particularly different to most of the other idents. Idents that were made by MTV were normally related to music and time as the clock is shown in this ident this is one of the first idents which were designed to actually entertain. as a sort of short film but other channels also had appealing idents but the idea is that they were made for different audiences.

As you can see this is the first idents ever made for BBC this was the first ident to try and capture the picture of the word by having circular shapes in which to resemble the world this started as two wings to resemble flight and it also had BBC written at the Bottom other than the ident having no schedulaing this stated the channels name and its identity which was formal and intellectual.
This was a major breakthrough for idents as it was the first of its kind and it gave BBC an identity. this was the first step for BBC to become one of the biggest broadcasting stations of all time this was the beginning of a series of idents that would be a worldwide theme as all of BBCs idents would take the idea of a circle as the world.
