Task 1 B and 1C

Competition: this is were a client can hire a media company to set up a competition this can involve award ceremonies like the short film festival the advantages of this is it helps out with the company's publicity. this is one of the most unusual briefs as it is left to chance wether who wins the award. this will therefore spark more competition between different companies like film companies for example Lions Gate and Dreamworks or Disney Pixar.

Tender: A tender brief will contain a budget within the brief and a project that is set out for the client this makes it easier for the client to work around. This can also be set in a variety of briefs which makes it helpful for the client. this can also be an advantage because it give the client more room to work around there creativity.

Negotiated: This brief is self explanatory initially the client gives a brief with a list of instruction but the other clients can negotiate around the brief working more creatively this can make the production more successful as it is grasping its target audience more directly and this will allow them to be more interested in the production this applies to everything such as films music TV series and more this is to hit there target audience while working within the guidelines of the brief.

Contractual: This is a media company which has hired a client to complete a number of tasks these briefs have a fee that the client can agree to this can be more flexible for the client. an advantage of this would be the fact the it is easier for the client to the set deadline.

Informal: An informal brief is very straight forward this is a task received by a client that can be worked on with a team and completed to a fast and proffesional standard. the good thing about this is that it gives you more freedom to work and you do not have to do everything on your own as you have a team to help you with the brief the client has given you.

Disadvantages to this are that the group have very mixed ideas and may want to use theres you may not understand there idea and this can cause a setback for dates which can have a bad impact on the brief.

Commission: This is when a large media company hires an independent company to fill a brief this can take quite a long time but it is extremely efficiant in creating a high value project the bad thing about this is that the independent company may not like the idea and they might not want to help because the brief the media companies have given them may not appeal to them. this is one of the biggest disadvantages briefs have as the idea may not be appealing to the ones wanting to fill the brief.

Cooperative: This is quite similar to the Commission brief however this is two companies which are working together to complete the brief rather than an independent company the advantages are that this can be quite effective in terms of a large scale brief. Disadvantages are that arguments can collide the majority of the time as one of the company may want an other idea that they want.

Formal: This is when the client outlines the brief to whoever filling it to work and produce a specific product for them to is relevant to media as well as the media industry has mayfield were making a product comes into play e.g. Album covers. This has a massive flaw though as the contract may not be legally binding so essentially they do not have to pay you and you are doing free work for your client however an advantage would be the amount of free space you have to create this product although it can limit creativity a lot.
